Description
This is a review of the Ben Greet Players May 13 to May 16, 1909 production at Moore Theater of A Midsummer Night's Dream. It documents the fact that Ben Greet played numerous roles, including the one for which he was particularly well-known, Bottom. Modest Altshuler's Russian Symphany Orcestra accompanied the production with musical numbers, and the review talks positively about how the music enhanced the experience. The review also notes that since the production was divested of most scenic accessories, the quality of the play was based on the performances and the play itself, and that also this minimalism invited imaginative engagement with the play.
