Description
This is a review of the Barton and Wiswell July 25-31, 1909 production of A Girl's Best Friend at the Seattle Theater and of Clara Kimball Young's performance as she filled in for the leading lady, Emma Bunting who had just been informed that her mother had died. The opening day matine was canceled so that Kimball Young could rehearse and memorize her lines. The Seattle Times praised her emergency performance, remarking that she was "very pretty." Of the play, the Times believed it was better than the average melodrama.
