Born Harold Fraser in Melbourne, Australia in 1889, Snub Pollard took the surname Pollard when he began his career with the vaudeville act the Pollard Lilliputian Opera Company and later amended his first name to Snub. Pollard had a long career in Hollywood, particularly in silent film comedies, most of them "one-reelers." He was one of Mack Sennett's original Keystone Kops. Later, he worked in comedies produced by Hal Roach alongside Charlie Chapman, Bebe Daniels, Charles Ray, Harold Lloyd, and Chester Conklin. Pollard's later career in sound film was a bit rocky, but he was frequently asked to play character and guest roles in film and television. Pollard died of cancer on January 19, 1962 at the age of 72.
