Description
The Ben Greet Players production of "Everyman," a medieval morality play, opened at Denny Hall on the University of Washington campus on Dec. 14, 1904 before moving to Christensen Hall theater for the remainder of the production until Dec. 19, 1904. This was customary for the Ben Greet Players. Inaugurating the opening, Ben Greet lectured on the sensationalism of American theater on Dec. 12, 1904 at Denny Hall. Ben Greet played God's messenger, and the character named Everyman had by far the most lines. Clergymen were invited for the weekend matinee performance, and applause was banned throughout. Greet was said to have aimed for absolute fidelity to the source material.
